Brits in Dubai reveal ‘nerve-wracking’ emergency alerts ‘to seek immediate shelter’

Dubai residents, including British expatriates, received phone alerts warning of possible missile threats. The messages, sent in rapid succession, demanded urgent action and immediate evacuation from the area.

Two emergency alerts were issued, prompting people to take shelter and await additional guidance. Meanwhile, Iran has launched its most intense missile barrage to date across the Middle East, escalating tensions in the region.

Dubai experienced multiple drone interceptions, with debris from the strikes hitting two iconic landmarks—the Burj Al Arab and Palm Jumeirah—and igniting fires. Martyn, a British expat, shared his experience with Metro: “We had two alerts just now. There were also two earlier last night. It’s been extremely tense.”

“It’s a very, very tight situation. It’s hard to gauge what’s happening here, right in the middle of it all. There’s no clear way to know what’s coming next.”

Martyn described the alerts as “a constant source of anxiety.” He explained, “Being on the ground is terrifying. Many think the missiles will pass, but I believe it’s safer to hide—because anything could happen.”

“My heart races every time I get a message. Iran’s targeting US bases and organizations after the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in Operation Epic Fury. It’s all part of their strategy to create chaos.”

He added that the disruption in the UAE is exactly what Iran aims to achieve. “My friend in Abu Dhabi was hit hard—there were 15 intercepts recently. It feels like they’re taking random shots to cause maximum confusion.”
