Woman Killed in Local House Dog Attack Identified
A 19-year-old woman, later identified as Jamie-Lea Biscoe, died after being attacked by a dog at her home in Long Hide, Leaden Roding. The incident occurred on Friday at 10:45 PM BST when Essex Police arrived at the scene. The woman was found with severe injuries and succumbed to her wounds at the location, according to the police statement.
The 37-year-old man from Dunmow was detained under suspicion of failing to control his dog, which led to the fatal injury. The canine was confiscated by authorities, and specialized teams secured the area to ensure safety. A police barrier remained in place at the residence through Sunday.
“This tragedy will deeply affect the community,” said Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper. “Our thoughts are with Jamie-Lea’s family and loved ones. Investigators are working to determine the exact circumstances of the event.”
Essex Police urged anyone with video evidence, such as CCTV or dashcam footage, to share details related to incident number 1419 of April 10. Meanwhile, St Michael and All Angels church planned a memorial service, including prayer and candlelighting, on Sunday afternoon.
