Melania Trump says rumours linking her to Epstein ‘need to stop’
First Lady Melania Trump Calls for Congressional Hearings on Epstein Allegations
In a notable move, Melania Trump, the First Lady, addressed claims connecting her to Jeffrey Epstein, stating that such rumors “need to end today.” During a press briefing at the White House, she emphasized her lack of involvement in the accusations, describing her relationship with Epstein as brief and limited to a single encounter in 2000.
The surprise announcement included a call for congressional hearings to allow survivors of Epstein’s sex trafficking to testify under oath. She rejected online narratives suggesting Epstein introduced her to Donald Trump, calling them “mean-spirited attempts to defame my reputation.” No prior notice from her office signaled this statement, and the White House did not highlight it in their daily agenda.
Trump asserted she had no knowledge of Epstein’s abuse of victims, stating she was “not a participant” in any capacity. She also denied familiarity with Ghislaine Maxwell, the financier linked to Epstein’s case. A 2002 email between her and Maxwell was cited, but she called it “casual correspondence” and a “polite reply.” The email, directed to a recipient likely Ghislaine Maxwell, praised a photograph of “JE” from New York Magazine and expressed anticipation for a trip to Palm Beach.
“It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them on the younger side,”
the New York Magazine article quoted then-President Donald Trump as saying. He also remarked, “Jeffrey enjoys his social life,” highlighting their shared appreciation for “beautiful women.” Melania urged lawmakers to provide victims with a platform to share their experiences publicly, insisting that “the truth will emerge only after their testimonies are formally recorded.”
Soon after, California Democrat Robert Garcia, a key figure on the House Oversight Committee, endorsed her request in a statement. “We agree with Melania Trump’s call for a public hearing,” Garcia said, encouraging Chairman Comer to act swiftly. This development is expected to intensify discussions about the Justice Department’s handling of the Epstein investigation and the transparency of its released documents.
While Donald Trump acknowledged knowing Epstein, he later claimed to have removed him from his Mar-a-Lago club due to his “creepy” behavior. Despite frequent mentions in Epstein’s files, no evidence of his misconduct was found in the records.
