Strictly star will not face rape charges, police say
Strictly Come Dancing Star to Avoid Rape Charges, Police Confirm
Hertfordshire Police have announced that an unidentified Strictly Come Dancing participant, who was detained on suspicion of rape in October 2025, will not be subjected to criminal prosecution. The individual, whose identity has remained confidential, was arrested on 13 October 2025 and released on bail to allow further investigation. Following consultations with the Crown Prosecution Service, detectives concluded there was “insufficient evidence” to proceed with formal charges.
“There will be no criminal charges brought against an individual arrested by Hertfordshire Constabulary on Monday 13 October 2025 on suspicion of rape,” the police statement read.
The man’s bail was extended until Tuesday 7 April 2026, giving investigators more time to gather details. The incident in question is believed to have occurred independently of the current season of the BBC show, which is filmed at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood. The Sun reported at the time of the arrest that the man was accused of raping a woman following a BBC event, though she was not a contestant or professional dancer on the program.
Earlier in August, another person associated with the hit series was also arrested on similar charges. The Metropolitan Police noted at that time the individual was also under investigation for “non-consensual intimate image abuse.” While the exact role of this second person in the show remains unclear, the current case has been resolved without legal action.
The BBC dance competition, which runs from September to December, continues to draw attention for its high-profile participants. The latest development underscores the ongoing scrutiny surrounding the program’s events and its connection to alleged misconduct cases.
