Blue Bloods Star Alex Duong’s Heartbreaking Final Comment Weeks Before Tragic Passing at 42

A Last-Minute Message

Alex Duong, a comedian and actor recognized for his role in the CBS series *Blue Bloods*, shared a poignant message on his final Instagram post. The post, dated January 28, featured a video shared by his friend Chris Tran, who manages the Little Saigon, Westminster account. Tran implored followers to rally behind Duong as his health declined during a critical phase of his cancer fight.

“I just found out my boy Alex, he’s been battling eye cancers, quite a while… and it was going good and he recently had a seizure. And the thing with the seizure, they found out he has something in his spine, man.”

Duong’s comment on the video, “[two hand clap emojis] I will walk out of here,” captured the bittersweet resolve of someone confronting their mortality. His words were a testament to his spirit, even as the disease advanced.

A Rare Battle

The comedian’s journey began with a diagnosis of alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of soft-tissue cancer. The condition developed behind his eye, causing severe headaches and eventually leading to vision loss in his left eye. Treatments, including an eye patch, were intense, but Duong remained steadfast.

Despite chemotherapy’s toll and a looming financial burden—over $400,000 in medical debt—he continued to perform, inspiring fans and peers alike. His resilience shone through, even as the disease took its toll on his body.

A Life in Comedy

Before his passing, Duong was a staple of the Los Angeles comedy scene, known for both his stage presence and work as a door guy at the Comedy Store on Sunset Strip. Born the youngest of six children to Vietnamese and Chinese parents, he grew up in Dallas, Texas, before moving to Hollywood to pursue entertainment.

His career spanned stand-up, acting, and writing, with notable stints on *Netflix’s Historical Roast*, *CBS’s Blue Bloods*, and *The OnlyFans Roast of Whitney Cummings*. A GoFundMe campaign, initiated by his close friend Hilarie Steele, had raised funds to assist with his vision recovery. Now, the campaign supports his wife, Cristina, and their five-year-old daughter, Everest, following his death.

Hilarie Steele confirmed to TMZ that Duong passed away at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica on Saturday. His death was attributed to septic shock, which developed the night before. The loss leaves a legacy of laughter, courage, and artistic dedication in its wake.
