Additional Murder Arrests Following Tragic Shooting of 14-Year-Old Boy
A 14-year-old boy was killed in a shooting incident on Lord Warwick Street in Woolwich, south-east London, around 15:40 BST on Thursday. Eghosa Ogbebor succumbed to his injuries at the scene, prompting further police action in the days that followed.
On Saturday, the Metropolitan Police announced the arrest of a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man on suspicion of murder. A separate 46-year-old man was also detained for aiding the accused. Earlier on Friday, three individuals—two teenagers aged 14 and 16, and an 18-year-old man—were arrested but released on bail.
“Our team of detectives is actively pursuing leads to determine the circumstances surrounding Eghosa’s death,” said Det Ch Insp Lucie Card, who is overseeing the case. She added: “Residents might have noticed increased police presence in Woolwich late Thursday night as part of the ongoing investigation.”
“We are grateful for the public’s vigilance and hope that anyone with relevant information or sightings of unusual activity will come forward,” Card emphasized. “This tragedy has deeply affected the local community, and we remain committed to uncovering the full story.”
