Harry and Meghan arrive in Australia for four-day tour
Harry and Meghan’s Four-Day Australia Tour
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have touched down in Australia for a four-day tour that blends charitable initiatives with private, revenue-generating events. No longer serving as working royals, the pair are traveling as private citizens, with the trip reportedly funded independently. Their itinerary includes meetings with patients and medical staff at a children’s hospital, as well as interactions with military veterans and families affected by domestic violence.
Commercial Engagements
Prince Harry will deliver a keynote address at the InterEdge Psychosocial Safety Summit in Melbourne, where tickets range from A$1,000 to A$2,400 per person. Some proceeds from the event support the Lifeline charity. Meghan, meanwhile, will host an exclusive “girls’ weekend” in Sydney, a women-only wellness retreat led by the producers of the Her Best Life podcast. Attendees are paying up to A$3,199 for the opportunity to meet the duchess and secure a group photo with her.
“We just found out they were coming so we hung around,” said Emily Burke, who brought her three-year-old daughter Phoebe to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. “Meghan came and had a little chat with Phoebe… she was commenting on her Bluey slippers.”
The couple’s previous visit to Australia in 2018, following their marriage, lasted nearly nine days and drew massive crowds. This time, however, there are no public meet-and-greet events planned. Police in Victoria and New South Wales have confirmed they will provide security during the visit, though it remains unclear if taxpayer funds will cover part of the cost.
Private Funding and Brand Exposure
Australian authorities have noted the couple’s private status, with Victoria Police stating they are aware of the visit to Melbourne in April. The official tour concludes on Friday with a rugby match in Sydney, but Meghan will participate in an “in-person conversation” on Saturday at the wellness retreat. There are also indications that Australia could serve as a market for her As Ever lifestyle brand, which has been featured in a Netflix series produced by their media company. Last year, the brand filed trademarks in 12 product categories in Australia, according to a government IP database.
