Your guide to the UK’s music festival season for summer 2026

As summer approaches, the UK’s festival calendar is brimming with exciting events. While Glastonbury takes a break this year, fans can still enjoy a wide range of options across the country. From headlining acts to unique settings, there’s something to suit every musical preference.

Major Festivals to Watch

Reading and Leeds Festival, scheduled for 27–30 August, features a stellar lineup of British and Irish artists. Charli XCX, Chase & Status, Dave, Florence + The Machine, Fontaines D.C., and Raye will be the main attractions, with Leeds adding a special Thursday night performance by Kasabian.

For those craving a coastal vibe, Boardmasters in Cornwall will showcase Fatboy Slim, Lily Allen, and The Kooks from 5–9 August. If you prefer a festival without camping, TRNSMT in Glasgow offers a three-day experience with CMAT, Wolf Alice, and Two Door Cinema Club from 19–21 June.

Elsewhere, BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend returns to Sunderland from 22–24 May, featuring Olivia Dean, Zara Larsson, and Niall Horan. The Isle of Wight Festival, running 18–21 June, promises sets from Lewis Capaldi, The Cure, and Teddy Swims, with a standout performance by Wet Leg.

Rock & Alternative Favourites

Download Festival remains a top pick for fans of rock and alternative music. The event in the East Midlands will feature Limp Bizkit, Guns N’ Roses, and Linkin Park from 12–14 June. Meanwhile, Kendal Calling in the Lake District will host Biffy Clyro, Wolf Alice, and The Libertines from 30 July to 2 August.

Truck Festival in Oxfordshire, from 23–26 July, brings together The Maccabees, The Wombats, and Kaiser Chiefs. For dance music enthusiasts, Creamfields in Cheshire will have Swedish House Mafia, Martin Garrix, and Armin van Buuren on 27–30 August. Parklife in Manchester, on 20–21 June, features Calvin Harris, Skepta, and Sammy Virji.

Emerging Festivals

New festivals are gaining traction in 2026. Roundhay, a fresh addition to Leeds, will debut in July with Pitbull and Lewis Capaldi as headliners. Silverworks Island in East London, renowned for its scenic Thames-side location, hosts Pendulum, Fisher, and Tiesto during June and July.

Another new event, Labyrinth on the Thames, debuted last year and returns with Dom Dolla, Peggy Gou, and Michael Bibi in August. Its setting against the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich adds a unique flair. State Fayre, a festival focusing on rock, country, and folk, also launches this year, offering a fresh platform for these genres.
